What Heads say about BOOST: increasing pupil numbers and school budgets
OFSTED praise Stoneworks Education Ltd 'Starting School Storybook'
The OFSTED team reviewed our transition arrangements and noted the book produced by Stoneworks Education Ltd. They said that the illustrations and ideas within the book were exemplary, enabling children to be prepared for joining the school.

BOOST increased our enrolment and saved the school.
For a small initial outlay on BOOST, we significantly increased enrolment and budget. The price of not using BOOST would be that the school might have had to close.
I'm so pleased that I replied to the Stoneworks email and met with Andrew. We had tried lots of things to bring in more pupils, but nothing worked until we used BOOST.
Its a relief to have our roll going up again.

Our intake for next year already looks significantly greater than last year and we have certainly raised the profile of the school locally. Thank you Andrew and Stoneworks!
When we found out about Stoneworks we thought that they might represent the perfect way to raise the profile of our school in our local community. We are immensely proud of our school and wanted a way to share what we do with a wider audience. The company was incredibly helpful and endlessly patient with us while going through the process of sorting out all the literature - we are perfectionists and wanted it to be 'just right'.
Our local area is now peppered with posters where our parents celebrate our amazing school, and these link to our website where more information is also available. We also had their photographer in to help us with our prospectus. They produced this very professionally and it has been extremely well received by all stakeholders, with parents who are new to the school being particularly impressed.
We have also worked with Andrew's team to create a booklets that shows our EYFS class. We are sharing this with nurseries to make the transition of our new reception children even smoother and to publicise our offer through the local nurseries.
I couldn't be more grateful to Andrew and his team. They've been amazing.

Stoneworks Education's 3-step plan was just what we were looking for. With a sporadic birth rate causing fluctuations in pupil numbers, we needed something to make us stand out from other local schools. Since implementing the plan we have seen an increase in parent enquiries and visits to the school.
The combination of posters, a prospectus and also a starting school booklet has strengthened our message and reached a wider audience. The crucial part was hearing the voice of our existing families talking about the strengths of the school. The materials look very professional for a relatively low cost. Communication has been timely and effective. I would thoroughly recommend Stoneworks to other schools.

Since using our 3-Step Plan literature, we have seen our school website hits go up significantly.
Stoneworks Education’s 3-Step Plan is very different to anything I had seen in the education sector. The meeting I had with Andrew, at the start of the project, was highly informative. You can tell that he is an expert in schools marketing. The unique approach they take, of using family case studies to market the school, is innovative and brilliant.
The fact that it is a planned out strategic approach covering several months, that you can repeat, means that its not just a ‘one off’ marketing push. It isn’t just the family case studies though, there are two more steps that are equally powerful, including Starting School Storybooks and Celebration Prospectuses (that also feature the family studies), and that roll out across several months.
We get free ongoing support from Andrew too, and free literature updates. All very useful and cost effective.
I’d recommend that all schools who need to increase pupil numbers to get in touch with Andrew at Stoneworks Education, so he can take you through the three steps. I’m so pleased that we did.

Lots of schools have falling numbers because of a dip in the birth rate. Although you can’t allow it to carry on, it can be difficult to know what to do to stop it. That is why I was so pleased to come across Andrew and Stoneworks Education. My initial meeting with Andrew was very interesting and showed me that a different type of approach might work really well.
Andrew and his team were very easy to work with and ensured a very smooth process. There wasn’t lots for me to do.
I’m so pleased with what they have developed for us that I recommend another school got in touch with them. Which the school did, and now they are getting their own 3-Step Plan literature.

We were worried our pupil numbers would fall due to a drop in the birth rate locally. It’s a problem that a lot of schools are currently facing. When I came across Stoneworks Education and their 3-Step Plan to increase pupil numbers, I was definitely intrigued.
I had an initial meeting with Andrew that was very encouraging. I could see that his innovative approach could easily work. It's no use a school talking about itself if they are saying what other schools in the area say. You can’t tell one school from another if they all say the same thing.
Parents usually talk to friends and family when they are selecting schools. Using that angle, Andrew developed a range of family stories that were then used in a planned way across our community. I like the fact that its all planned in three steps. He also gave us a plan to work from and encouraged us to get in touch if we had questions while running the plan.
What parents say about your school has much more impact in the community that what the school says about itself.
I’d say that if a school is facing a drop in the birth rate, as lots of schools are, they need to call Stoneworks Education for a chat. Andrew and his team definitely know what they are talking about.

Due to the rural aspect of the school, and a dip in the birth rate, we have a falling roll. It’s a problem that lots of schools are facing across the UK.
When I contacted Andrew at Stoneworks Education, he recommended a 3-Step Plan that they run, which increases school profile and pupil numbers. I had a virtual meeting with Andrew and could see how this innovative approach would work across our rural community.
It’s such a brilliant idea, to give parents a voice and market your school through those parent voices. It’s a bit like Tripadvisor for schools. Especially powerful when you consider that what matters most to parents is what other parents say about a school, and how their children have benefited. Each family story has a positive outcome, that reflects how the school works and how it helped that child excel in school.
I also like the fact that the literature is updated free or charge, and that you have free support while using the 3-Step Plan literature. If you have any questions, you can have a free virtual chat with Andrew.
I’d definitely recommend rural schools with a falling roll contact Stoneworks Education.

What an intuitive idea. To use our family’s stories to market the school. Rather than the school talking about itself, our families talk about how the school has benefitted their children. It’s very powerful.
I also like the fact that it isn’t a ‘one off’ approach. That there is a strategic plan behind it, and it runs for several months. That you can pause, when numbers go up, and restart if they start to go down. And that Andrew at Stoneworks is available at any time for free advice while we are running the plan. And, we get free updates to literature.
The team at Stoneworks were very easy to work with. My first meeting with Andrew, where he talked me through the 3-Step Plan, was very enlightening. It showed me that there was something that we could do to increase pupil numbers. It can be difficult to know what to do when you are faced with dwindling pupil numbers.
I’d recommend that if a school is having a problem with low pupil numbers, that they contact Andrew at Stoneworks Education to see how they can help.Stefan Roos

What a revelatory idea! To use parent and pupil stories to market and communicate to parents. It's simply brilliant! I'd never seen anything like it before. These studies will really help us to show just what makes our school so wonderful.
It can often be quite difficult to show parents the wide variety of things that happen at school, and how the school could benefit their children academically and socially, but these case studies definitely do just that. You can tell that Stoneworks Education have been doing this for a long time too. It was totally painless and they handled everything. I'd certainly recommend them to other schools!

What a fantastic idea to use family stories to market the school. We held an open day recently and the reaction to the prospectus, case studies and posters was tremendous. Parents loved the literature. I also had a short time to get it all developed, and they met my tight deadline. Andrew would remind me if I was behind on anything.
The area we cater for is largely rural. It’s a large area to cover, and that is why I think the posters are a great idea. We will be changing them monthly. We have four case studies, so that’s four posters, which is four months of coverage, covering the rural community. In a month, parents could see the posters up to 100 times. Each month we will change the posters.
It isn’t the school talking about itself, its parents praising the school. We want to stand out as different, and I think this approach suits us very well.
I’d recommend that if a school is low in numbers or wants to review their approach to marketing their school to parents, that they talk with Andrew and his team.

These innovative parent engagement tools will definitely inspire new and existing parents to get more involved with our school. The testimonials capture the personal stories of our pupils and their parents, helping to say what a school could not.
I like the fact that Andrew and his team update it all for free too, which I had never heard of before from such a supplier. This means that our literature will last a very long time and never be out of date. They seem a very ethical company and I would not hesitate to recommend them to other schools.Catherine Green

By using BOOST we have increased our school budget.
My first meeting with Andrew was highly encouraging. We have had decreasing enrolment for a while now. We have tried several things, but nothing worked. Andrews approach made a lot of sense and Governors and SLT were happy to work with Stoneworks Education.
Within two months we had an increase in website traffic. We have now had two pupils join our small rural school. If we hadn't run BOOST they wouldn't have joined our school. I anticipate more pupils joining because parents really do love the posters and literature.
The fact that it runs for several months, and you can contact Andrew for free support, made a big difference too. The whole package is cost effective and works.

These parent/pupil case studies say what a school can't. They highlight what a difference a good teacher and a good school can make to a child and their family. As told by the family! They can transform a school profile, because they help to tell the whole 'school story'. They reflect how a school works, and what it excels in, through the prism of a parent and pupil's experiences. I've personally found the case studies very enlightening and inspirational. What a brilliant idea.
Andrew and his team were fantastic and nothing was ever too much for them. Work was turned around quickly and it's definitely of the highest quality. I'd certainly recommend Stoneworks Education to other schools. I'd never seen this approach before, and I'm very happy that we commissioned Stoneworks Education.Alison Hawkins

We chose to use Stoneworks Education because it was the only company that used the views of parents and children, who attended the school, to promote the school to the community. Stoneworks approached the families and carried out all of the background work, including the talking with the parents and writing up those conversations. What better way is there of showing parents and pupils all that the school does to support families!

Using parent and pupil case studies to market schools is such an amazing idea. These case studies are the future for school marketing. It's a simple idea that works perfectly!

Stoneworks approach to parent engagement is completely unique and transformative. All schools should do this! Using parent voices and experiences has revolutionised the way we market, and communicate, to parents. Their parent-friendly literature truly captures what makes our school different, and it will definitely increase pupil numbers by persuading parents to use our school.
It's great to work with someone who is as passionate about the school, and getting the best outcomes for parents and children, as we are! Stoneworks Education really does seem to understand what parents, children and schools need.Helen Atkinson-Smith
